Idea

The general idea of my Horror film is that I will have the main character running from a monster similar to the one in the movie “It Follows”(2014). Which is a predator (hunting the main character) style antagonist that only the main character can see. The film’s main conflict is for the main character trying to survive the “thing” until he reaches his house. Where is when we finally see the reveal of the monster’s facial features. Therefore dramatically ending the film.

Primary info

I can utilize the information to my advantage by using a lonely hallway scene where we see nothing. Therefore creates a sense of paranoia and discomfort for the watcher as they do not and cannot see anything in the hallway even though that their paranoia is going to make them assume that there is something in the hallway but we just can't see it.

Interestingly most people said that they would feel weird and that they don't like silence. Which helps me clear my path on if I should use the element of silence for my film.

It helps me with the idea of where the film should take place.

Breath Porch GIF - Breath Porch Cold - Discover & Share GIFs

As you can see in this scene we can clearly only see one character in the cold breathing, but out of nowhere the camera soft pans to her right shoulder ( our left) showing as if there is someone next to her, and there isn't. Until a smoke-like breath comes from right beside her because it is cold, then revealing there is actually someone next to her but we just can’t see him.

Inspiration from the fact that this spirit (stand) has the ability to be used by stand users. But can affect both humans and stand users. This spirit in specific latches onto a person and if anybody sees the back of the person with the spirit they die and the spirit passes onto the next person who sees its back, inducing madness and fear on the victim.

Generalized tips for horror genre:

https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-write-a-horror-screenplay-effective-writing-tips-to-make-your-horror-movie-terrify-audiences#what-is-horror

  1. More action than dialogue: Show the audience, don’t tell them, what the characters are afraid of.

  2. Mounting suspense: Pacing the story and the action to take viewers by surprise.

  3. Jump scares: Sudden loud noises or unexpected images that make viewers jump.

  4. Gore: Gruesome death or torture scenes with blood and guts to further unsettle the audience.

  5. A villain or a monster: Anyone—or anything—that’s beyond control. The audience needs to know what drives the bad guy and what they’re capable of.
